Terre des Hommes International Federation organizes the conference entitled : "Addressing trafficking in human beings: governments' responses in the EU and NGO strategies outside the EU", on October 20, 2010, at the Renaissance Brussels Hotel (19, Rue du Parnasse), Ballroom I, in Brussels.
The conference aims at sharing "experiences and good practices" with other practitioners, policy- and decision-makers active in the fields of
"anti-trafficking" and "child protection". During the conference, we will assess strategies against child trafficking implemented by NGOs outside the EU, as well as the anti-trafficking policy of EU Member States within the EU.
During the conference, two reports will be launched and discussed with
representatives of the EC, policy-makers, IOs and CSOs:
- In pursuit of good practice in responses to child trafficking: Experiences from Latin America, Southeast Europe and Southeast Asia? (Mike Dottridge, 2010). The report assesses good practice from anti-trafficking initiatives in the framework of an EC-funded project implemented by a consortium of TDH organisations and their partners (project: "Enhancing capacity to address trafficking in human beings, especially children, from a human rights perspective in Southeast Asia, Southeast Europe and Latin America"). The report addresses a series of specific recommendations towards governments, NGOs, international organisations, and intergovernmental actors, including the EU, on how to improve operations in the field of anti-trafficking.
- Report on the policies and interventions of European Union Member States in 2008-2009 in response to human trafficking? (Mike Dottridge, 2010). This report was developed in the framework of the E-Notes project, led by the Italian NGO "On the Road" in partnership with ALC/SPRS (France), ACCEM (Spain) and La Strada International, and through the involvement of NGOs and/or experts of all 27 EU Member States.
