Albania: Following its national launch on 29 June 2010, theWorking Protocol for the Child Protection Workers, a publication of the Albanian Ministry of Labour, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities in cooperation with Terre des hommes and UNICEF, was launched regionally through a series of conferences that took place between September – October 2010 in the cities of Saranda, Gjirokastra, Fier, Elbasan, Vlora, Pogradec, Durrës and Korça. Anaccompanying brochure including easy and practical information adapted from the Working Protocol, as well as contact details for the Child Protection Units in Albania was especially prepared and distributed during these events in order to encourage the general public, child protection actors and children alike to familiarize themselves with basic concepts and ways in which to address their child protection concerns.

Albania: The Law for the Protection of the Rights of the Child is approved
The approval of this law marks a significant achievement for the protection of the rights of all the Albanian children through a complete legal and institutional framework in accordance with the Albanian Constitution and the Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). The Law lays the ground for the establishment of the appropriate institutional mechanisms that will guarantee and ensure respect for the rights of children by the individual, the family, the state or other third party entities.

La primera dama de Albania denuncia la explotación infantil en su país

Kuala Lumpur, 12 oct (EFE).- La primera dama de Albania, Teuta Topi, denunció la explotación infantil en su país durante la primera Cumbre de Primeras Damas que se celebra en Malasia bajo el lema de "Un niño hoy, un líder mañana".
"En Albania, estamos preparando una ley que persiga a los padres que pongan a trabajar a sus hijos, lo que supone una explotación que va contra los derechos del hombre y del niño", señaló a Efe la esposa del presidente albanés, Bamir Topi.
