NEW UK-wide research released in conjunction with National Adoption Week reveals many children miss out on adoption because of alarming public misconceptions about the process.
The ICM research commissioned by the British Association for Adoption and Fostering (BAAF) found 32 per cent of respondents believed that anyone over 40 could not adopt, 29 per cent thought single men could not adopt and many thought that being gay, a smoker, being unable to swim or obese excluded you from adoption.
